IEA Trading is an international group of companies, specialising in the trade of technical products between Europe and Asia.
In 1968 Mr. Dipl.-Ing Julius G. Kiss laid the foundation of what was to become a concern – he established the company IVM GmbH & CoKG in Munich.
The company grew through hard work, competence, reliability and the willingness to produce results. More and more customers were gained, for example VW, Mercedes, GM, Chrysler, Ford, Jaguar, Seat, Siemens, Alcatel, Airbus.
The company started with plant construction projects (planning of chemical plants and developing of project management systems), but with time the scope of business was extended to engineering for automobiles, busses and trucks, railway technology, design and development for airplane and space technology systems, communication and information technology as well as training.
IVM developed into an internationally renown group in the engineering industry with companies all over the world, e.g. USA, Austria, UK, France Brazil and China.
One of the first projects for the automobile industry was to change the VW “Golf” into the American “Rabbit”. Development projects like the “Audi A8 Coupé” or the “Callaway C12” are good examples of the competence of the IVM Engineering group.
Regarding the globalisation and the worldwide growth of the industry, we decided to utilize our technical expertise in a new field of business, the import and export trade of technical products. The IVM International Trading AG – now IEA International Trading AG - was founded in Switzerland (1997).
In 2000 the IVM Group had 2400 employees worldwide, the turnover was about 170 million EUR. Following a reorganisation of the group, the German enterprise IVM Automotive was sold in 2002 to a daughter company of the Carlyle Group, one of the biggest financial groups of the United States, and the way was paved for new strategic business goals.
The founder of the group recognized the importance of the Chinese market quite early and the IVM group started to invest there, too. At the moment the existing contacts and connections are strengthened and the investment is increased: the IVM TC Wien, for example, has invested in the Weichai Power Co. Ltd, the biggest producer of large diesel engines in China.
The IEA International Trading AG, the world-wide headquarters for the trading activities and responsible for financing and building up the business, opened a representative office in Qingdao already in 1999 and began working with a small trading company. In 2003 the IEA International Trading (Qingdao) Co. Ltd. was founded to intensify the contact with the Chinese customers and suppliers and to be able to provide faster and better service.
