20 Years of IEA Qingdao!
How time flies - IEA International Trading (Qingdao) Co. Ltd was founded in spring 2003, already 20 years ago.
This anniversary was duly celebrated on 21 September 2023 in the Olympic harbour of Qingdao against the breathtaking backdrop of the evening light show of the Qingdao skyline on a floating pier, where the German Wine Festival, organised by the IEA for the 8th time, was subsequently held.
The "official part" with speeches was deliberately kept short to give colleagues and ex-colleagues, business partners and friends the opportunity for many conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.
We, IEA Qingdao, would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees for their great work and loyalty again. We also sincerely thank our business partners for their trust and good cooperation.

The German Wine Festival is back in the Qingdao Marina!
The 8th edition of the German Wine Festival in Qingdao took place in its original location, the Olympic Marina floating deck! Between sailboats and in front of the Qingdao skyline, Wine529 set up tents and extended the garden to the water’s edge, increasing seating capacity to 1000. From September 22 to 24, more than 5000 visitors drank, ate and danced by the sea!
The entrance featured a giant barrel reminiscent of the Bad Duerkheimer Fass at Germany’s Wurstmarkt, the oldest wine festival in the world. Walking through the barrel, you could grab a wine glass with a hanger, ready to taste more than 20 different kinds of wine from Germany, Austrian and Alsace.
Among the classic food stands, the German pork knuckles from the new German restaurant Flensburger; Flammkuchen from La Mansarde, pinsa from Italian restaurant Romano, burgers from The Tree bar and kebab platter from King’s kebab shop were the most popular. A new covered area featured other specialties such as pretzels, but also fun things to do thanks to henna and tattoo booths!
The music started on Friday and was non stop until the Sunday evening, ending with a Chinese rock concert bringing a new note to the wine fest! Stunning Karina played solo and jammed with the bands, changing music and costumes! Welcome them back next year, on a day without rain!

Commercial fairs in China open again
With the official decline of the Covid pandemic in China, commercial fairs have resumed and garnered increasing popularity from visitors.
Wine529 took part at the Chengdu Spring Wine Fair held in Chengdu and also joined the German Wine Institute Riesling roadshow in Beijing and Guangzhou over the past two months.
It is noteworthy that German wine, unlike other imported wines, did not witness a decline in imports during 2022 in China, showcasing the promising growth potential of Riesling on the Chinese market.

IEA Medical at the Altenpflegemesse Nuremberg
Personal contact with our customers and their satisfaction are our top priorities. That is why we had a stand at the geriatric care fair in Nuremberg from 25 to 27 April.
Our team was able to exchange ideas with customers in person and discuss topics such as the challenges in everyday medical and nursing care. Visitors were able to test our products on site and experience them live.
It was wonderful to see how our instant cold compresses and warming eye masks were tried out and appreciated by the visitors. Numerous innovations and services for the continuous support of elderly care were presented at the fair.

Review November 22: The first German Wine Academy class in Qingdao
Wine529 teamed up with Allen Gao, a wine educator certified by the German Wine Council, to set up the first German Wine Academy Class, level 1, in Qingdao. Twenty-three students applied for the class, which featured some knowledge about German vine varietals, wine history and wine regions, and tasting of nine different wines. Each student received a certification, and is now ready to undertake the level 2 class!

Live streaming becomes a trend in the wine industry in China
As professional trade fairs and marketing tours are either rescheduled or suspended in China in the midst of Covid prevention measures, a new trend emerged in the wine industry to run activities online. Live streaming on professional platforms with importers and private online tasting with the vintners are becoming increasingly popular and open new perspectives for distribution and marketing in the future.
Wine 529 is regularly doing wine dinners with live streaming showing the vineyards, the cellars and the vintners with their families, letting the guests enter in the life of the winery and experiencing unknown aspects of the wine world.

IEA International Trading: wine partner at the Austrian winter wonderland during the Beijing olympic winter games
The Austrian Embassy Beijing, the Austrian National Tourist Office and the organisation Advantage Austria joined hands to bring an "Austrian Winter Feeling" during the Olympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing.
The embassy courtyard turned into a "winter village" during the fifteen days with snow, wooden huts, Austrian delicacies & beverages, and live screening of all major Olympic events. IEA International Trading, who distributes the Austrian winery Weingut Netzl in China through its wine brand "Wine529", is proud to have been the wine partner of this event, promoting the expertise of Austria in winter sports and its traditional gastronomy.

The 7th Wine Festival
In 2021 the Wine Festival took place on the roof garden terrace of the Haitian Hotel. The participants who were on site on the first two evenings could fully enjoy the spectacular set up.
Unfortunately all outside activities had to be stopped suddenly because of a typhoon in Qingdao. It took spontaneous hard work to secure the tents and move the fridges full of wine to safe places.
However some parts of the program could be continued inside:
The wine class, co-organized with the region Rheinland-Pfalz, was particularly successful and gathered a large crowd as the wine educator Allen Gao introduced different wines from various regions in Germany.
The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs invited members and guests for the second consecutive year to discover their gourmet association with a line-up of German and Alsatian wines and a food menu designed by the Haitian Hotel.
Our thanks go to the sponsors and partners who have supported us through the year, and all the visitors, some of them coming from far away in spite of the risks and Iimitations.

Wine529 at the 2021 Chengdu Food and Drinks Fair
From April 7th to April 9th 2021, Wine529 participated in the biggest wine fair of the year in Chengdu. It was the 104th edition of the fair, which was canceled last year in the midst of Covid outbreak in China. More than 900 wines and spirits exhibitors have been waiting for two years and one could feel a considerable level of excitement as about 100 000 visitors crowded the eleven halls on the first day.
Wine529, the wine brand created by IEA International Trading in China, was represented for the second time in the German Pavilion, an exhibition area organized by Wines of Germany gathering 24 exhibitors. There was an significant increase of the number of visitors, showing the growing interest for German wines in the market and the recovery of the wine industry after a difficult year 2020 that saw the trade disrupted many times in several Chinese cities and most fairs canceled. Riesling is now a hot topic in the Chinese wine industry and the recent Riesling birthday celebration on March 13th was all over the social media in the past month.

We are constantly expanding our product portfolio for you - new in our range is our disinfectant stand, which is specially produced for IEA International Trading..
The spray of the disinfectant is triggered by a mechanical foot pedal. Contact with the hands is thus avoided.
The solid construction ensures high stability and the purely mechanical operation makes it low-maintenance and independent of a power supply.
In the package with a disinfectant and spray head, the stand in matt black is delivered directly ready for use.

The 6th Wine Festival 2020 in Qingdao:
In a year full of challenges, the German Wine Festival managed to cruise through its 6th edition thanks to the support of both local and international communities, proving once again its status as a well-established event in Qingdao. This year, the Festival gained the support of the city which recognized its role as a cultural platform to promote both German and broader European culture in Qingdao and facilitate cultural exchange with Chinese citizens.
More than 15,000 wine lovers visited the festival, Chinese and international citizen coming from all over China. Amongst others, over 2,000 bottles of wine were enjoyed, half of them Riesling, showing the growing interest for the "German King of White Wines" in the Chinese market.
IEA International Trading Qingdao is the founder and main organiser of the German WineFestival and is best known in China for its retail brand Wine529. The company has been elected best importer of German wines in China by Wines of Germany (Deutsches Weininstitut) three years in a row.

IEA Qingdao announces the only Wine festival by the Sea!
From September18-20th and 25-27th, the German Wine Festival will return to the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Marina to host the largest outdoor wine festival in China.
During the two weekends, thousands of wine lovers will party to live music bands under the shade of our seaside festival tent to enjoy fine German wines and a variety of international cuisine. Inspired by the traditional “Weinfest” from Germany, we invite you to celebrate with us in sunny Qingdao!

Power on!
The comon project of IEA Munich and Tiryaki Turkey has started electrical power production. The largest rooftop photovoltaic power plant has been erected on the rooftops of the organic chicken farm Yesilküre in Samsun at the Black Sea.

Graphite now also available from Munich
Our German office in Munich now also offers natural and artificial graphite and graphite products from China. Our staff will gladly give you information in German, English, Turkish, Russian, Polish and Chinese. Our range includes flake-, amporphous, expandable or spherical graphite as well as special products like, for example, needle coke.
We are, of course, also able to supply you with finished products worldwide.

Graphite electrodes with 700 to 750 mm diameter from China
Until today, graphite electrodes in China were only produced up to 500 mm in diameter. A new production line of graphite electrodes for steel scrap melting is currently being set up. On the new plant, which will start production in the summer of 2019, electrodes with a diameter of 700 mm and larger can be produced. Graphite electrodes are used in steel recycling. The steel scrap is not melted down in blast furnaces; instead, graphite electrodes are used, which melt the steel parts at temperatures > 1‘600 ° C.
